At Own a Horse, we are committed to supporting British breeding and grassroots British riders, all whilst demonstrating high standards of horse welfare.

We offer affordable annual syndicate membership in a variety of horses.

Our team is passionate about connecting horse lovers through participating in our syndicate. As a small stud, we aim to breed quality horses destined for a career at the top of their discipline. This allows us to offer our shares across both broodmares and foals.

From as little as £25 a year you can buy an annual subscription share in one of our wonderful horses. These shares allow you or a loved one to take part in the thrills of horse ownership, with none of the unexpected costs!

Each horse only has a limited number of subscriptions available, meaning you can join an exclusive community to share in the excitement of watching what your 4 legged friend gets up to.

Have you always wanted to experience the joy of a foal or producing a competition horse? This makes our program ideal, without needing the resources, time and knowledge. You will enjoy regular email newsletters, and following our social media lets you join the lives of our herd.

We will even reach out to our community to take your ideas on naming the foals and picking the sire! With 2 open days during the year, enjoy the chance to visit your horse and chat to the breeders, trainers, and your fellow sharers. Of course, you are also invited to travel to events your horse is competing at to cheer them on.

We also aim to support grassroots British riders by providing our top quality competition horses for talented riders. This allows a more inclusive step into affiliated and national competition, by removing the financial barriers surrounding the purchase of a first-class steed.

About Us

We are a small farm based in the Scottish Borders, passionate about breeding and producing healthy, high-quality horses, with a dream of connecting like-minded people whilst supporting the UK equine industry.

Our horses are our pride and joy. We believe horses become their best selves when they can live naturally, raised and trained with empathy and consistency. Our trainers and riders are selected to support our equine ethos. Each horse is listened to, allowing them to have their individual emotional and physical needs met, as well as having access to regular physio work, dentistry, farriery and vet care.

Although it’s an ongoing labour of love, we pride ourselves on our setup. Our mares and foals have access to move between the field and a large indoor barn as they feel comfortable. The rest of our fields can be opened or closed, with 2 other stable spaces, allowing us to adapt to the weather and needs of the herd to move and stay comfortable.

With our innovative programs, we aim to make the dream of owning a horse a reality for more people, while also contributing to the future of British breeding.
