Well after a glorious Easter Sunday, we have hit the April showers with a bang. 48 hours of constant rain has turned our lovely dry fields and training tracks into bogs and just like that, our first competition of the season is cancelled.
The grass is now starting to grow and although we are still feeding haylage both in the barn and in the field, we have definitely noticed the horses have their heads down grazing a lot more.
The Willow grove, which has been sectioned off since before Christmas, has a lovely lush green colour and we look forward to letting the horses back in here for their spring grazing. As always we will be looking at the careful balance between plenty of forage but not giving them too much of the rich sugary spring grass.
Here’s hoping we see some sun and things start to dry up soon.
